Escape The Pace (A Rocknroll Dance) has put her new Australian harness racing counterparts on notice with her powerful front-running display in the A$25,500 Slingsby Holdings Bulli Trotters Cup (2300m) at Menangle.
The NZB Standardbred weanling graduate showed her rivals a clean pair of heels, leading throughout in her first start for Sydney trainer-driver Rickie Alchin.
Escape The Pace was purchased by Harwood Agricultural and Equine Services for the bargain price of $5000 when she was offered at the 2019 All Age Sale at Karaka.
The four-year built excellent form in New Zealand for the Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan stable, before she headed across the Tasman recently.
Escape The Pace had her last start for the Purdon-Phelan stable in Group One company at Menangle before joining the Alchin barn ahead of Saturday night’s feature.
The trotter showed excellent manners when stepping straight to the lead after the tapes flew and though she was challenged on the home turn, Escape The Pace had the race well in control throughout.

Regal Attire (Muscle Hill) was last throughout but charged home out of the pack in an eye-catching third placing.
Escape The Pace was bred by Breckon Farms manager Nigel Fahy who offered the mare among the Alabar draft of weanlings at the 2019 All Age Sale.
Alabar will offer an outstanding line up of youngsters at the 2023 National Weanling Sale at Karaka on May 25.
