Wyndham harness racing trainer Craig Ferguson is known for having his horses ready to perform well fresh, and both Da Vinci (Art Major) and Louies Girl (Lord Forbes) have big assignments in front of them on Sunday at Oamaru.
Da Vinci was one of the finds of the early season, winning four of his eight starts between January and April. He’s had just one workout – two weeks ago. His standing start record is good. He’s won four of his ten races from a stand. The Hannon Memorial will be a good test for the four year old.
Louies Girl proved she was up to town hall company when she finished third as a two year old in the G1 Ace of Diamonds with only Duchess Megxit and Treacherous Baby in front of her.
In late April as a three year old, she ran third in the G2 Southern Oaks Final. Lining up in Sunday’s Nevele R Heat she will have had one workout.
