First crop by world’s fastest standardbred on offer

Woodlands Stud is meticulous in its harness racing stallion selection, and we know that we don’t take any stallion for the sake of it, otherwise the exercise is fraught with pitfalls.

When Woodlands was offered up 1.46 pacing machine Lather Up, we looked at our proven formula and believed he ticked all the boxes.

Lather Up (Dave Landry Photo)

Lather Up was a 23-time race winner from the age of 2 to 4 and banked over USD $1,735,623 in career earnings. Lather Up did it all, he broke seven track records and two World records, he is the equal fastest standardbred ever over one mile pacing a blistering 1:46 mile rate and is also the fastest horse in history over 1 1/8 mile going 1:59.2.

He won the North American Cup elimination and final which is a stallion making race like his grandfather, Bettor’s Delight, the greatest sire to walk into a breeding shed. His maternal pedigree is also full of depth with his dam Pocket Comb, the dam of ten foals, with 9 to race for 9 winners!

‘Sudsy’ as he is known is leaving a stunning type of foal, they are correct, willing to work, athletic and not heavy boned. They seem to have acquired many of the traits often left by Bettor’s Delight. As a great looking horse himself, Lather Up is stamping his foals.

Next Thursday, May 26th, Woodlands Stud presents its weanling class of 2022 at Karaka, and more importantly the first ‘Down Under’ crop of Lather Up. With eight impressive lots on offer, we expect them to be well sought after in the ring.
