The first progeny of the champion harness racing NSW bred and owned pacer Lochinvar Art, now racing successfully in North America, will go up for auction at the Australian Pacing Gold sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, February 4.
It is a bay colt, Lot 164 in the catalogue, out of the Albion Park winner Lively Luna, a Live Or Die sister to the 2008 WA 3YO of the Year and dual Group winner Lively Royce ($214,443) and from the family of horses the calibre of the Vicbred champion Glitz, La Royce ($267,716), Cool Hand Royce ($206,444) and Smart Leader.
The colt is one of a dozen foals left by Lochinvar Art when domiciled at Cobbity Equine Stud (NSW) while mixing racing with stud duties.
He is the first yearling ever to be offered by the Western District-based Levarg Racing Group, one of the leading buyers at yearling sales over many years.
Their list of purchases include the Chariots of Fire winner and Miracle Mile placegetter Jilliby Kung Fu, the APG Final winners Jilliby Jitterbug and Jilliby Nitro, Jilliby Bandit and the trotter Keayang Ignite.
Lively Luna, the dam of the colt, was bought by Terang horseman Paddy Lee from an advertisement on the Australian Trading Ring website.
Lee bred Lively Luna to the $1.68million earner Lochinvar Art using the service he secured from the Terang Stallion Tender in 2021 and this is her third foal.
