Flashpoint (Captain Crunch) got his first points on the board in the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stake at the Winton Harness Racing Club meeting yesterday.
Owned by Joe and Lu Bagrie, Penny Baynes, Jonny Turner and trainer Brett Gray, the win was the gelding’s second in just three starts.
In the small field of seven, driver Nathan Williamson took the three year old forward early but surrendered the lead to Captain Amore.
“He came out well and it’s the first time I’ve asked him to come out of the gate. He balked a bit after fifty metres and went to pull up. He’s very green but he’s a nice horse with a good motor,” Williamson said.

After trailing, heading out of the last bend Flashpoint dropped off Captain Amore’s back.
“He just wanted to lug out and come to the outside. I got the plug out and got him to the lane (passing lane), so it was a good effort to win.”
FLASHPOINT REPLAY
The winning margin was a neck with Captain Amore holding on for second and Rakamick a nose back in third.

The winning time for the 1609 metres was 1-55.1.
