Follow Your Dream breaks track record

On a perfect day for mile racing on the superfast Nelson harness racing track, records were bound to be broken and Follow Your Dream (Bettor’s Delight) trained by Robert and Jenna Dunn did just that.

From her good gate, driver Blair Orange took the mare forward early and for the second part of the race she was three back on the fence.

Heading for home, Orange came across wheels and brought Follow Your Dream down centre track. She scored with her ears pricked in a track record time of 1-53.8 with the last 800 metres run in 56.9.

“There were some nice horses in that field. She got a good trip which is what she needs. She’s got a bit of speed. Robert and Jenna always target these types of meetings. I don’t think she’ll be out of place in some of those better mares races,” Orange said.

The mare is owned by long time Dunn clients Ross and Angela Gordon and their children.

Bred by Chris and Tina Barlow, Follow Your Dream was purchased by Diamond Racing out of the 2022 NZB Standardbred Auckland Sales for $130,000 and prior to her Nelson double she had won two races as a three year old.

The Gordons have had success with Follow Your Dream’s half-brother Heisenberg which has won thirteen.

The Barlows are offering a half-brother by Tall Dark Stranger at next month’s Auckland Sale.
