Graduates kicking goals and eight Lots to sell tonight

Gavelhouse Standardbred graduates are firing on all cylinders in Australia, showcasing the value proposition of purchasing tried harness racing horses off the online auction platform.

Regally-bred For Always Arden (NZ) (Always B Miki) has made every post a winner since crossing the Tasman, winning both of his starts for trainer-driver Seaton Grima.

Bred by John Stiven under his Arden Lodge banner, For Always Arden is out of Group One performer and 2007-08 New Zealand Two-Year-Old Pacer of the Year Arden’s Darlin.

The son of Always B Miki won one and placed in two of his seven starts for Tony Herlihy before being purchased by Grima for $12,000 in July.

He has been quick to repay his new connections, winning first-up over 2030m at Newcastle late last month before winning again at Penrith last Thursday, almost recouping his purchase price.

Miki Cohen (NZ) (Always B Miki) has been another recent success story across the Tasman, and has proven to be an astute purchase by trainer Jason Grimson.

Miki Cohen had 14 starts for Southland trainer Kirstin Green for two wins before selling online in July to Grimson for a bargain price of $2,000.

He found his feet in Australia with a first-up fifth placing at Menangle last month before returning to the New South Wales track to win over a mile earlier this month in a slick time of 1:52.1.

Fellow Gavelhouse Standardbred Great White (NZ) (Vincent) has also left his mark in Australia.

Out of eight win mare Honey Rose Falcon, Great White won on debut as a two-year-old at Cambridge last year for trainer Tony Herlihy, but failed to fire in his subsequent nine starts and was offered on Gavelhouse Standardbred in June where he was purchased by Leonie Driver for $6,050.

He joined the stable of Jack Butler, for whom he has won two of his five starts at Albion Park. He won in his Australian debut over 1660m in July before returning to the winner’s circle late last month after he was victorious over the same distance.

Gavelhouse Standardbred has proven to be a cost-effective source for Australian trainers to purchase tried horses and earn a near instant return on their investment.

Gavelhouse Standardbred’s latest auction is currently live with bidding set to close from 7pm (NZT), Wednesday 10 September.
