The Purdon/Cullen stable grab another Group One win, this time with outsider No Matter Wat (A Rocknroll Dance), who leads all the way at odds of 17-1 in the hands of driver Olivia Thornley.

Favourite Akuta (Bettor’s Delight) shows his class and gives the Purdon/Cullen stable another Group One by demolishing his rivals in the NZ Derby today. Akuta had to sit parked for the last lap but was too strong beating Republican Party by a widening margin in very quick time.

High Energy (Father Patrick) remains unbeaten with a massive run to blitz the Group One for 2YO Trotting Fillies. Driver Mark Purdon had no luck with High Energy being posted three wide behind a slow one for most of the race. In the end it didn’t matter as the speed shown by the Father Patrick filly over the last 600m saw her loop the field and run away over the closing stages.
