The lightly raced Majestic Love (Majestic Son) impressively won her fourth start for harness racing’s Griffins Syndicate at Invercargill today (Jun. 17).
“She trotted away nicely. Then the tempo came out of the race a bit so I decided to get around and put her in the race. She clicked up and showed a nice turn of foot at the top of the straight and won pretty well to her credit,” said driver Brad Williamson who drove for his father Phil.
The winning margin was one and a half lengths with early pacemaker Don’t Ask (Father Patrick) finishing second.
“She’s a handy wee horse and always gets compared to her brother (Majestic Man). But she’s a nice mare in her own right.”
Williamson has been part of Majestic Man’s campaigns in Australia. He’ll be keeping a close eye on fellow Southern driver Craig Ferguson and Smokin Bandar (Monkey Bones) and their month long campaign in Brisbane.
“He’ll find it a bit different. They’re very tactical over there. When you’re in a nice race on a nice horse it’s very competitive. It’s an Australian versus Kiwi thing and it’s almost like you’re driving against the field. But he’s got a nice horse in good form so he knows he’s over there with a horse with a chance. The way the horse has been going should give him a lot of confidence.”
