The champion Orlando Vici gelding Just Believe provided the jewel of a grand slam of successes in feature trotting races in Victoria this month for stallions on the Haras Des Trotteurs’ roster when he captured the $50,000 The Knight Pistol at the Ballarat Cup meeting.
Despite a poor barrier draw and having to sit parked most of the way, Just Believe powered away from his rivals in the home straight to complete his sixth win on end and 24th lifetime.
In doing so, he established a new track record rate of 1:57 for the 2200 metres. He has now earned $987,173.
The bonny Quaker Jet mare Im Ready Jet, the winner of the Derby Royale Free-for-all at Shepparton, and Keayang Chucky (by Love You), who won the Hamilton Trotters Cup, completed the hat trick for Haras Des Trotteurs’ sires.
Love Gun became Love You’s latest $100,000 earner when he saluted at the Shepaprton Cup meeting. Other recent Love You winners included Simone Lindenny NZ (Melton and Geelong), Nakedtruth (Bendigo), Oh Nova Love NZ (Menangle), Mazeppa (Cambridge, NZ) and Pyramid Mystic (Winton, NZ).
Orlando Vici continued his fine start to the year with the metropolitan winners Royal Dan 1:57.4 (Melton) and Kivici (Globe Derby Park), Quaker Jet was represented by the Melton debutante winner Ready Set Jet, while Used To Me produced the Globe Derby Park winner My Used To Be.
