Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with eight races on the card. The racing starts at 12:50pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

Sheila Laxon (5) Locally trained and well drawn. Big improver and top selection in this
Bonjour Paris (15) Trial form good but will need to trot all the way. Chance with a good trip.
Solemn Son (4) Has ability and will win races. Might need another couple of runs but can place

Race 2

Take The Deal (9) Wide draw here but has speed and money on last start. Can go close
Sweet Trixie (1) Well drawn and has trialed well on the track. One of the better chances
Spectator (2) Will appreciate the sprint trip. Has gate speed and could surprise with luck

Race 3

Arden’s Memory (4) Freshened and from a powerful stable. Top driver booked and top selection
Ruby Tuesday (6) Will get better with racing.  Should run top three with natural improvement
Woodlea Diamond (5) Likely leader who will be in it for a long way. Can threaten the favourite

Race 4

Lookslikeatrixter (1) In good form for this. Drawn well and should give a good account here
Randel Huston P (8) Freshened and big motor. Manners the key. Will play a part with no mistakes
Boyz Invasion (9) Capable of threatening the favourites with the right trip. Good place chance

Race 5

Ideal Chevron (5) Driver change for this and sprint trip suits. Top three chance here and can win
Fernz Goldy (8) Tricky draw but races well on the track. Has winning claims with a cart into it
Gotta Elect Bill (4) Disappointing last start. Can turn it around with a good run in transit. Include

Race 6

Style Council (6) Has been racing well in similar fields and good chance of going back to back.
Foveaux Gambler (9) Improving with racing and good beginner. Winning claims if he leads
Threebeersdeep (13) Draw hurts but better than most of these. If he paces early he can go close.

Race 7

Buffy Northstains (9) Has been racing ok in similar fields. Chance at longer odds in this lineup
Noah Magnific (3) Needs the right trip but can sprint well off cover. One of the better chances
KD Royalty (8) Better than the form suggests. No surprise to see a turnaround in form here

Race 8

Flo Motion (5) Has gate speed and will appreciate the short distance. Looks a good chance here
Courage Reactor (10) Shorter trip will help and will get a soft pegs run. Win chance with gaps
Almighty Clever (7) Hasn’t had a lot of luck in recent races. One for longer odds in this field
