Welcome to today’s segment from our harness racing analyst.

Providing you with free expert tips and selections for harness meetings run in New Zealand.

Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with ten races on the card. The racing starts at 3:11pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Ashburton selections 22nd December 2022

Best Bet:  R3   Kalasa

Best Value:  R5   Tres Magnifique

Race 1

Helloveamoment (3) Plenty of ability but has been breaking. Can get some money with no errors
Randel Huston P (9) Good trial win on the track and only needs manners to be right in it here
Raining In My Heart (5) Races ok on the track. Needs to step but no the worst in this field

 

Race 2

Franco Humbie (2) Trialed well here mid November. Hard to beat if he can find the front
Ambleside Drive (8) Better than the form suggests and better on grit. Top three player
Lone Wolf (10) Serial galloper with a big motor. Hard to beat if he paces all the way

 

Race 3

Kalasa (6) Has been unlucky in several of his races. Looks the winner with no mistakes
Fourth Amendment (8) Getting better with racing. Winning claims in this field
Tact Teel (7) Form has tapered off but has some ability. Can surprise with the right trip

 

Race 4

Teds Legacy (2) Unlucky last start and drawn well. Capable of beating this field on his day
Yorokobi (9) Tricky draw but classy pacer. Looks a major player in this field fresh
Rakanotta (6) Racing in red hot form. Tough mare who races best near the pace

 

Race 5

Tres Magnifique (5) Normally a good beginner with top driver booked. Should give a good sight.
Prince Ranier (3) Getting back into form and track suits. Can surprise at longer odds. Include
Lookslikeatrixter (6) Should appreciate the bigger track and has form on the board. Needed.

 

Race 6

Katherine (6) Racing well and mile distance suits. Will be finishing on late
Evangalist (5) Good beginner who might be the early leader. Can run a quick time here
Shanika (1) Likely to get a good run on the fence. Distance suits and she can go close to placing

 

Race 7

Skittle Bomb (7) Wide draw but getting better with racing. One of the major players in this field
Fitzthebill (2) Has run some good races on the track. Winning claims with a good run in transit
Real Men Wear Pink (1) Has the ability and could surprise with a swift beginning. Include

 

Race 8

Elite Styx (1) Gets a great draw and short distance suits. Hard to beat in this field
Fernz Goldy (2) In good form and drawn to lead here. One of the better chances
Janarty (10) 
Has won over the course and distance. Could surprise with the right run in transit

  

Race 9

Buffy Northstains (5) Ran a good fourth last start after galloping. Winning claims if she steps well early
Test The Boundaries (3) Gets a better draw to work with and track suits. Strong field but good chance
Sunny Louis (13) Drops back from racing in the Derby. Looks a good win chance back in this grade

 

Race 10

Mayson Shard (12) Plenty of ability and should get a run through from the draw. Can go close here
Rocknallovertheworld (4) Has a bit of speed and will win more races. Could surprise with the right trip
Coachella (1) Good draw and swift off the gate. Can run a decent race over the shorter trip here
