Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with eleven races on the card. The racing starts at 11:35am and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

My Royal Break (9) Ok in a stronger field last start. Big chance if she can get handy early
A Reason To Fight (2) Running home late last start and could surprise in this. Needed here
Prohibited Bid (4) Good form in similar fields and drawn ok. Winning claims with manners

Race 2

Black Billie Gee (7) Should be stronger for last start placing. Trained locally and top selection
Fulham Jive (13) Has ok track stats and better than form reads. Upset chance with the run to suit
Auntie Deb (4) Hasn’t had all the luck and with the right trip is one for longer odds in this

Race 3

Henry Winkler (13) Has come back stronger after trainer change. Trials good and winning claims
Rutherford (15) Tricky draw but top driver booked. Can run top three here with any improvement
Spectator (8) Better last start and good beginner. Might sneak a place at longer odds in this.

Race 4

Beyond The Horizon (4) Weak field and he is usually reliable. Chance in an even line-up
DD’s Super Stuart (8) Out of form but not the worst in this. Could go close to top three here
Brian Beatt (9) Looks better suited here and can fly the stand. Likely leader worth throwing in

Race 5

Beaudiene Quick Step (11) Has been quite unlucky in recent runs. Might sneak under the radar
Not Over (4) Good beginner who will head forward early. Good chance of winning back to back
Hayley’s Meddle (6) Has raced well in better fields. Winning claims from the draw in this

Race 6

Got The Chocolates (4) Going from strength to strength. Small field will help and can win again
Marketplace (1) Running on late last start and is one of the main chances here. Ace draw helps
Renaldo (2) Has the motor to compete with these. Hard to see him winning but good place chance

Race 7

Gone Surfin (2) Running on well last start at Addington. Will be improved and can take the next step
One For Jay (5) Not far away on debut and better suited here. Will need a good run in transit
Joyride (3) Better last start and getting fitter. Begins well and has winning claims in this field

Race 8

Hadron Collider (9) Has been racing well in strong fields. Obvious favourite who is hard to beat
Commander Joe (1) Getting better with racing. Good draw and mobile suits. Upset chance here
Shards Matrix (2) No form but best draw for some time. Could pop up at longer odds in this

Race 9

Cee Who’s Bettor (10) Might get a run through early. Fence draw and has winning claims. Needed
Izacheapee (13) Tricky draw but has the speed to be a threat. One for longer odds in this. Include
Spiritual Bliss (1) Likely to race close to the speed here. In good form and can run top three

Race 10

Sweet Lady Jane (7) Up in grade but looks to have plenty of speed. Can place here with manners
Missalyssa (5) Way down in grade but out of form. At her best she would be too good for theses.
The Bloss (9) Good beginner who opened over the odds. One of the better chances in an even field

Race 11

Fernz Goldy (2) Races well on the track. Drawn to race handy and can place at nice odds. Needed
Timbimboo (11) Top run last start. Hard to catch on his best day but not the worst in this. Include
Millies Sensation (8) Has gate speed and likely to go forward. Place chance if she finds the front
