Welcome to today’s segment from our harness racing analyst.

Providing you with free expert tips and selections for harness meetings run in New Zealand.

Harness racing hits Auckland again today with seven races on the card. The racing starts at 6:35pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good afternoon of racing.

Auckland selections 8th March 2024

Best Bet:  R5  Shake A Leg

Best Value:  R4  Great White

Race 1

Scout’s Honour (2) Freshened for this and in good form at workouts. Hard to beat here
Skipper (1) Best draw for some time and getting fitter. Can run top three from the pole
Cyren Shard (3) Will be fitter for last start third. Will be there around the top three

 

Race 2

Sadhaka (2) Has looked ok at trials and drawn to be a factor here. Stable respect
Its Electrifying (5) Beat Sadhaka at the trials. Should go close to top three here
Lincoln Lou (4) Battled well on debut and has to respected again in this field

 

Race 3

Hadron Collider (4) Big drop in class here and will go close to winning this. Top selection
Clouding Over (1) Running on last start. Can run top three here with a good run in transit
Leo Lincoln (3) Unlucky last start and drawn much better. One of the better chances

 

Race 4

Great White (6) Looked good winning on debut. Race experience a big help. Needed
Confederate (3) Would win this if only half as good as the USA pacer Confederate. Include
Roy Kent (5) Trainer respect and not bad on debut. Can go close to top three again here

Race 5

Shake A Leg (6) Drawn much better and big run for second when last here. Top selection
Papenhuyzen (2) Getting fitter and solid at Cambridge last start. Win chance from the draw
Xcite Me (3) Hasn’t had much luck in previous runs. One for longer odds in this field

 

Race 6

Self Assured (5) Normally a quick beginner and small field will help. Top selection
Mach Shard (4) Tidy win last start and conditions suit. Could try to lead all the way
Old Town Road (2) Freshened but loves the track and a good sprinter. Winning claims

 

Race 7

All You Need Is Me (6) Tricky draw and up in grade but still good enough to win this.
Always B Elite (3) Downgrade in class here. Speedy beginner who has winning claims
Throwyaarmsaroundme (2) Stable does well on the track. One of the better chances
