Harness Analyst – Hawera 4th February

Welcome to today’s segment from our harness racing analyst.

Providing you with free expert tips and selections for harness meetings run in New Zealand.

Harness racing hits Hawera again today with ten races on the card. The racing starts at 12:00pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Hawera selections 4th February 2024

Best Bet:  R1   Lightning McQueen

Best Value:  R9   Run Mason Run

Race 1

Lightning McQueen (11) Easy win on day one and is a good chance of going back to back here.
Mr Monty (1) Good runs in recent races. Gets a head start on main rival and first day winner
Trifolium (7) Manners needed but a chance if she does things right in transit. Needed here

 

Race 2

Love Is Everywhere (1) Better draw and will be fitter. Should be close to the placings at the finish
Slainte (8) Manners can trip him up but driver change here. Could surprise at longer odds
Johnny Who (10) Goes back 10m but should give a good account again here. Can run top three

 

Race 3

Dom Toretto (9) Tough run on day one and a soft fence draw. Big winning chance with gaps
The Finisher (13) Running on ok the first day but does have a driver change. Can improve
Savarna (7) Tidy second on day one.Can run top three again with a good run in transit

 

Race 4

Morere (5) Finished on the first day and will be improved.  One of the better chances here
Pennys First Flight (1) Goes well on grass and lands a better draw for this. One for longer odds
Igetakickoutofyou (13) Manners the key after a couple of breaks on day one. Not the worst 

.

Race 5

Del Shannon (13) Goes back another 10m but it might not matter. Can win again with luck
Highview Rockn Roll (9) Manners not great but has the motor if she does things right. Include
Kimkar Dash (2) Has raced well in better fields. Good chance if she lands lead or trail here

 

Race 6

Mahia Dreamin (6) Improver for this after late finish last start. One of the better chances
Norvic Charlie (4) Easy win after a slow start on day one. Will need luck but can double up
Avenger (2) Solid placing the first day. Draw gives him options again here. Needed

 

Race 7

Smoke On The Water (7) Tricky draw but beat this field the first day. Winning claims
Village Rebel (12) Driver change for this and he ran home well the first day. Go again here
Bad Medicine (6) Not much room the first day. Could surprise with a better run in transit

 

Race 8

Lamarli (11) Tricky draw for this but is improved and can run top three here. Include
Voodoo Prince (44) One paced but if they go hard in front he can run top three. Needed
Private Eye (6) At his best would go close to placing here. Top three chance at longer odds

 

Race 9

Run Mason Run (6) Big finish late on day one but might be driven closer to the speed here
Victor Bravo (7) Much better last start and will be running on. Can go one better with luck
Lord Delmar (1) Draw helps and races well on grass. Should race handy and can win again

 

Race 10

Uncle Drew (3) Conditions suit and should give a good account again here. Top selection
Artful Living (4) This looks an ideal race for him. Needs the pace on but has winning claims
Eddie Osei (9) Getting better with racing and if the pace is on can run into the top three
