Harness racing hits Kaikoura again today with eight races on the card. The racing starts at 3:48pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good afternoon of racing.

Best Value:  R1  Katherine

Race 1

Katherine (7) Has not had a lot of luck and dropping back in class. Top selection here
Off The Edge (9) Small field will help and should be running on. Will need to include here
The Highlander (2) Getting better with racing and has gate speed. Can step up again

Race 2

Misty Blue (2) Has raced better fields. Drawn the ace here and looks a good bet. Needed
Didjaseemiki (7) Well drawn and has the speed to be one of the better chances. Include
Rushkinoff (3) Improver from his last start and drawn to play a part. Top three chance here

Race 3

What The Bell (5) Stable in good form and has been racing stronger fields. Likely leader
Boyz Invasion (7) Has been disappointing but conditions suit. One for longer odds in this
Brian Beatt (4) Good beginner and should get a soft run. Can sneak into the top three

Race 4

Post Painter (3) Goes well on the track and a winning chance with a good trip. Include
Don’t Tell Jenny (5) Has gate speed and likely leader early. Could surprise with a trailing spot
Courage Reactor (1) Tidy draw and should get a soft trip. Place chance at longer odds here.

Race 5

Jose Quivera (8) Racing better fields and a drop back in class. Driver change and needed
Toby Tom B (7) Has raced well against similar fields. Tricky draw but looks hard to beat
The Night Fox (3) Stable respect and likely leader. Look for a good run in this field

Race 6

Aspirational Dream (4) Mobile a big assist and top driver booked. Nice each way chance
Brianna (1) Should get a soft run on the pegs. Even field but winning claims with a trail
Dasher (7) Freshened and normally goes well from the mobile. Top three chance at odds

Race 7

Auntie Deb (9) Can run time and top driver booked. Weaker field here and top selection
Major Happy (7) Will get a cosy run on the pegs. Might need luck in the straight but include
Big Mama Morris (2) Has gate sped and a chance if she can get to the fence. Upset claims

Race 8

Melody Banner (8) Can run time and due to get some form. Will need manners but include
Wolf Of Wall Street (4) Gate speed early will help and should go close to placing in this.
Terror Ma Sue (1) In good form and should get a good run on the fence. Top three chance
