Harness racing hits Methven again today with ten races on the card. The racing starts at 3:12pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good afternoon of racing.

Race 1

Five Monkeys (5) Has improved with every start. Good chance here with early manners
Diamond Harbour (6) Consistently around the top four. Has to be included again here
Tessamae (3) Battling away in similar fields. Place hope with her early manners. Include

Race 2

Bettor Fear Me (6) Good finish at Ashburton. Quite a weak field and looks an ok chance
Comic Lustre (5) Trialed well and has the speed to be one of the better chances. Include
Perpetual Motion (4) On debut with top driver booked. Top three chance here fresh up

Race 3

Melton Magnate (7) Has raced well on the track in the past. Should place with a nice trip
Festus Haggen (8) Has been disappointing but conditions suit. Likely leader early. Needed
Greets (2) Out of form but drawn to be an improver here at longer odds. Top three chance

Race 4

Speeding Spirit (5) Would need to lead to show his best but hard to run down over a mile.
Racey Krusa (4) Has gate speed and opened at good money. Could surprise with luck in running
A Late Late Pressy (1) Tidy draw and track should suit. Should be thereabouts at the finish

Hes Santas Excuse (3) Another change of stable but has the motor just needs manners. Include
Harry Belafonte (10) Has raced well against similar fields. Suitable draw and can place in this
Star Magic (2) Out of form but better than that. Look for an improved run in this field. Needed

Race 6

Noah Magnific (4) Last start was very brave and only needs similar to go close here. Top selection
Prince Ranier (2) Track stats good. Even field but place claims with a good run in transit. Roughy
Bullit Train (10) Will be better for the last start second. Soft pegs run likely and has a good finish

Race 7

Archie (3) Suited by the conditions. Goes well on grass and should go close to winning this. Needed
Ultimate Counsel (6) Improver from his last start. Can run top three here with a fast beginning
Michael Eyre (7) No recent form but quick beginner who is a place chance. Upset claims in this

Race 8

Kiwi Record (5) Can run time and could be the leader from the draw. Top selection in this field
To Ri Ruby (4) Conditions suit and has won on the track in the past. Can run top three here
Sophia Bromac (7) 51% place record on grass from 33 starts. Upset claims at longer odds

Race 9

Brett’s Mate (3) Has been racing ok in better fields. Good draw and not the worst in this field
Buffy Northstains (6) Good finish last start for second. Grass stats ok and can run top three
Jasprit Trouble (5) Out of form but has won on the track and will continue to improve. Roughy

Race 10

Tempo Warrior (2) Very quick and drawn to be handy all the way. Good winning chance in this
Stephs Boy (3) Better than most in this field and goes well on grass. Hard to beat from the draw
Franco Humbie (7) No form but has not had a lot of luck. Could surprise here at longer odds
