Harness racing hits Methven again today with eleven races on the card. The racing starts at 12:09pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

Brianna (4) Seems more seasoned now and in form. Has to be included in this field
Kowhai Summit (10) Good runs on Marlborough circuit. Top three chance here
Brightman (5) Manners needed but a good chance if he does things right early

Race 2

Teetan (3) Change of trainer for this. Trials have been ok and could surprise in this
My Skatjie (1) Drawn to be a factor if he stays handy on the inner. Include here
Dean James (5) Better run last start after working. Wide draw but can do some work.

Race 3

Festus Haggen (7) Hasn’t had all the luck the last few races. Conditions suit here. Needed
Cheeky Red (12) Racing well last couple. Can run top three again with a good run in transit
Bromac Times (11) Tricky draw but in form. Can get some money with a fast beginning

Race 4

On Report (2) Good from the stand and could go close with a nice run handy to the speed
Times Are A Changin (11) Likes the grass and has won here before. Will be running on
Izacheapee (4) Good form and placed in only grass start. Should be thereabouts again

Race 5

Beat The Covid (11) Drawn badly but does have speed. One for longer odds in this
Rachmaninov (9) Normally reliable and only needs a good run in transit to threaten
Mainbocher (3) Not far away last couple of runs. Chance if he lands lead or trail

Race 6

Commander Ben (2) Improver for this after nice win last start. One of the better chances
Manjimup (5) Has been racing better fields and drops in grade. Will need luck but can place
Peraki Seelster (6) Had excuses last start and grass suits. No surprise to see him go close

Race 7

Woodlea Jewel (8) Wide draw but going for three straight for new trainer. Winning claims
Tiger Taylor (4) Best runs have been from the front and might lead early. Good chance
Sophia Bromac (2) Grass stats are good and should go close to top three here. OInclude

Race 8

Emma’s Delight (4) Better draw for this but out of form. Worth including at longer odds
The Real McCoy (11) Not far away the last couple and could improve. Chance at odds
Vincent Vega (8) Goes best races from the front end. Could surprise if he found the front

Race 9

Cardi B  (7) Wide draw but does have gate speed. Looks over the odds and has won on grass
Mayson Shard (8) Much better last start and wide draw the only concern. Top three chance
Tremendous Lover (10) Drawn for a pegs run in this. Top three chance with any gaps late

Race 10

Sunny Louis (15) Conditions suit and should give a good account again here. Top selection
Royal Del  (13) Better manners last start. Winning claims if he can get away quickly
Musclynn (2) Getting better with racing and drawn to be a factor here. Include at longer odds

Race 11

Watch That Man (1) Track will suit and no room last start. Can go close with better luck
Sargent Best (2) Conditions suit here and only needs a good run to place in this. Needed
Harry Belafonte (10) Will get a soft fence run here. Might follow the right horse here.
