Harness racing hits Nelson again today with ten races on the card. The racing starts at 12:20pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Best Bet:  R1   James Cagney

Best Value:  R4   Forte Lustre

Race 1

James Cagney (5) Freshened and went some big races last campaign. Looks hard to beat in this
Treasure Trail (4) Not much luck in recent races and has to be rated highly in this field. Include
Secret Cocktail (1) Has the draw to stay handy and a good winning chance with a trail in the race.

Race 2

Spells Of Love (7) Still green but has trialed ok. Needs to trot all the way but can win if he does
Magnitude (6) Late gallop when running on last start. Can run top three here with manners
Sebastian Coe (10) Another with a big motor but lacking in manners. Winning claims with no errors

Race 3

Brando (11) Has been set for the meeting and looks hard to beat based on trials. Winning claims
Double Time (3) Good stepper at workouts. Drawn well and should be running top three in this
God Of Thunder (10) Conditions suit and he has impressed at trials. Can surprise with the right trip

Race 4

Forte Lustre (5) Coming in fresh and trainer does well here. Capable of beating this field with luck
Aeronaut (7) Solid third last start. Track should suit and can run in the money with luck here.
Michael Caine (3) Running on last start and sand track ideal for beach trained runners. Include

Race 5

Whats Wanted (2) Will be improved and has been racing better fields. Has to be respected here
Buffy Northstains (13) Tricky draw but has a decent motor. Can surprise with a better run in transit
The Present Maker (1) Has been galloping early but can run a big race if caught in the right mood.

Race 6

Franco Cornel (5) Change of trainer might work the oracle here. Good chance in fresh state
Ultimate Bird (1) Big improvement in draws and top driver booked. Can spice up the exotics
Lone Wolf (16) Tons of ability but he might get back in the running. Look for him late

Race 7

Chief Of Staff (9) Good stepper and conditions suit. One of the major players in this field
Zsa Zoe (3) Has run some good races on the track. Winning claims from the front line draw
Idle Stuartia (4) Has a bit of gate speed and top driver booked. Can go close to top three here

Race 8

Casino Action (9) Big effort to win last start and has gate speed. Hard to beat if he goes forward
Major Torque (2) Likely to be near the speed from the start. Has speed and can go close here
J R Bromac (8) Racing ok and looks the early leader with his gate speed. Can stick on for a place

Race 9

Celtic Spirit (4) Not sure the stand will suit but looks a big chance if he can lead early. Top selection
Katherine (2) Gets a nice draw to work with and racing well. Needs luck but can win
Chal Patch (7) Always a chance in these longer distance Cup races. Would pay to put in here

Race 10

Foveaux Gambler (1) Has good stand start manners and drawn for a cosy run in transit. Needed
Absolute Dynamite (11) One of the better chances if he can get a cart into the race. Include
Blue Rock Dancer (10) Is looking for three in a row and can go close in this with luck in running 

Race 11

Classie Linc (4) Has plenty of speed and draw suits. Should be running on and can win.
Alexis Rocket (16) Draw hurts but underrated pacer with speed. Good chance at longer odds.
Get Back (2) Has been freshened. Raced well last campaign and has winning claims from new stable
