Harness racing hits Oamaru again today with 7 races on the card. The racing starts at 2:30pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good afternoon of racing.

Best Value:  R5 Outback Man

Race 1

Style Council (10) Racing better fields in Canterbury. Can run top three with luck in the running
Foveaux Gambler (9) Better than the form suggests and could surprise with the right trip. Needed
Ultimate Counsel (5) Fast beginner who is the likely early leader. Driver change and good chance

Race 2

Ridge (11) Good second last start and easier here. Looks one of the better chances in this field
Senior Constable Liz (3) Needs to bring manners but has a bit of speed. One for longer odds
The Will (2) Improver from her last start and improving all the time. Top three chance here

Race 3

Iamthecaptainnow (3) Not far away last start and should race handy. Good run expected
Fear Gogh (5) Had excuses last start and $15 looks way over the odds. Top three hope here
Mighty Miki (2) Good effort last start and nice draw. Can sneak into the top three again

Race 4

Fear And Faith (8) Disappointing last start and a winning chance with her best form. Include
Harriet’s Moment (12) Freshened and has more ability than most in this. Should give a sight
Gasherbrum (9) Freshened and an improver with a place chance at longer odds in this field

Race 5

Outback Man (10) Should get a run through early and has raced well in better fields Top selection
Shannon B (9) Easy win on grass last start and will be running on late here. Good chance with gaps
Wavewatcher (2) Will be fitter after last start. Gate speed and should get a soft trip. Include here

Race 6

Penelope Lane (9) Good against a similar field last start. Hard to beat again with a fast beginning
Barrytown (8) Looks ideally placed in this field and a good top three chance. Races well on the track
Silvester (4) Needs the right trip but a upset chance with a soft run in transit. One for longer odds

Race 7

Zia Bromac (5) Conditions suit and likely to head forward early. Winning claims if she finds the lead
Keltic Tiger (3) Good run two starts ago and should go close to placing in this from the nice draw
Okiwi Bay (9) Should get a good run on the pegs here. Top three chance with gaps in the straight
