Harness racing hits Oamaru again today with nine races on the card. The racing starts at 2:36pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good afternoon of racing.

Race 1

Vertigo (7) Bit of a drop back in grade here. Grass suits and hard to beat
Line A Love (5) Coming in fresh but conditions suit and a winning chance if fully fit
Nordic Prince (3) Draws well and begins ok. Should go close to top three here

Race 2

Rimu Valley (10) Has been running on in his races without much luck. Good chance
Kawactus (8) Begins ok and has run some nice races the first couple. Keep safe
Penny Weight (7) Ok last start and should be improved. Good chance at longer odds

Race 3

Izia (5) Made a mistake last start but normally ok from a stand. Winning claims
Lucky Way (2) Drawn for a cosy run and should be close to the placings in this field
Rakero Warrior (6) Big finish last start in a similar field. Hard to beat with manners

Race 4

Baltimore Jill (1) Placed on grass four starts ago and ok last time. Chance from the draw
Franco Humbie (6) Stable gets them running fresh. Should go close in this field
Forty Wives (5) Getting fitter and grass suits. Another placing looks likely in this

Race 5

R K Finn (5) Drawn better and a chance of leading early here. Hard to beat
Spicy Girl Becqui (3) Fats beginner who should get a cosy run in transit. Needed
Tane J J (2) Goes ok on grass and trainer does well here. One of the major players

Race 6

Asian Elvis (8) Looked good when winning on grass at Methven. Can win again here
Piece Of Gold (4) Getting better with racing and fast beginner. Hard to beat
Phone Tap (5) Racing well and can go close to placing with a speedy start.

Race 7

Georgie Zukov (1) Goes well on the track and drawn to lead. Top selection in this
Katherine (8) Going for three in a row and in top form. Grass suits and can win again
Szybka Lane (10) Form is better than it reads on paper. Could surprise at longer odds

Race 8

Buffy Northstains (5) Good draw and racing well. Should be thereabouts at the finish
Dwindle Star (3) Good stepper who will race handy to the speed. Winning claims
Sunnivue Phileah (2) Racing ok and drawn to get a run through early. Include here

Race 9

Emma’s Delight (2) Massive winning here last start and has been freshened. Needed
He’s Tough (7) Tricky draw but good enough to overcome it. Include in this field
Shards Fury (1) Should get a soft fence run and grass suits. One for longer odds here
