Helium ready to fly for Barron

West Melton harness racing trainer takes good numbers to Addington Raceway on Friday with last start winners Izia (Majestic Son) and Helium (Sky Major) leading the charge. 

In Race One Barron lines up four year old trotting gelding The River Boy (Creatine). His form line is patchy and he’ll start from the unruly in the 2000 metre stand event. 

“He’s a very nice horse. The reason why we put him on the unruly is so he can follow the other horses out and not try to compete, it’s nothing to do with his manners. With the way the races have fallen he hasn’t trialled this time in. He’s too good to race against the nine granders (in a $9,000 race). He such a big horse and this time in he’ll only have three or four starts. Everything is good with him but he just should have had one trial,” Barron said.

Jaccka Opa (A Rocknroll Dance) showed improvement at his last start and gets a favourable draw at one in Race Two. 

“He got sick and we vaccinated him and he’s come right. He went nice last week and should back up again.” 

In Race Four Vatican Green (Rock N Roll Heaven) has solid form on the board and draws one on the inside of the second row. 

“We thought he was a really nice maiden but he just hasn’t raced as good as he works. He should have gone better last week. It’s not a bad draw was long as the one horse (Victor Lustig) carts him everywhere. He just hasn’t quite done what we thought he would.”  

Izia was rewarded with a win at her last start and draws one in a large field that’s got plenty of exposed form. 

“She’s got a rise in distance and in class. Her last two starts have been over 2000 and this race is 2600. She has won over 2600 so I’m not worried about that but it’s a jump in class.” 

In Race Ten Barron has two runners Black Mach (Mach Three) and last start winner Helium. 

Black Mach has a favourable draw at two. 

“He’s just out of maidens so it’s a big jump in class. He’s a very lazy horse who needs the speed on. He hasn’t clicked into the racing game yet but when he does I think he’ll go a bit further.”  

Helium gets a wide draw (7) with some quality runners set to start on his inside. 

“He had his first start over 2600 the other day and won easily after leading. It’ll be a little bit trickier for him this week but he’s a very nice horse and I expect him to go well. He’s my best bet.”
