Highgrove has won the $75,000 NZB Standardbred Harness Million 3YO Trotters Final at Alexandra Park tonight.
It was little more than a harness racing workout for the speedy Love You gelding after a relieved driver John Dunn pushed the go button early off the mobile gate. Highgrove then cruised along in front and was never out of second gear winning easily by 5 lengths.
“Once he got over that first 100m I was pretty relieved. It was a good race to win for the owners,” John Dunn said after the race.
It was the 8th win from 13 starts for Highgrove, who beat home El Conqueror and Wy Fi.
