Swannanoa harness racing trainer Brendon Hill has two winning chances tomorrow night at Addington.
In Race One The Finisher (American Ideal) and Point Break (Bettor’s Delight) both maiden pacers, will start.
Four year old The Finisher debuts after having a number of workouts over a long period.
“When I got him he had different owners and that’s changed. He’s had a few issues but he trialled well the other day even though he had a bit of a gallop. We know why he did that. He hit the line and looked a bit unlucky. He’s had enough trials, so he’s away to the races,” Hill said.
The well bred Point Break was desperately unlucky on debut, finishing third.
“He’s only a little fella who we bought at the sales, and he hasn’t grown much. He’s just a neat wee horse. He went super first up, and his trials were really good going into the race. Ricky (May) was rapt with how he went. He wasn’t knocked around last week so I thought I’d back him up.”
Double Down (Art Major) was a neck away from winning at her last start and faces a small but quality field in Race Five.
“It was a handy little field last start. She’s only a three year old filly but she’s been racing super. I don’t think the distance will worry her (2600 metres). I’ve backed her up because she’s come through last week’s run so well.”
Four win gelding Sargent Best (Art Major) over raced at his last start, but has been to the trials since, running home nicely for fourth.
“He’s done a good job. He’s raced by a big syndicate so if you sell him he’s not worth a lot of money. They would probably rather race him. He’s won two on the grit and two on the grass. His Ashburton run was a bit of a disaster. He locked on and came off the gate hard and it got messy for him. They ran their first half in 56 so we’ll put a line through that run. I’ve picked him back up and he trialled really nice the other day. Ricky (May) and I will get a line on him, and we’ll see where he’s at.”
