The wonders of water was proven yet again when Racey Krusa (Peak) won his first race in over a year, at Ascot Park today.
Prior to joining Amber Hoffman’s Waikouaiti Beach stable the eight year old which is owned by Bruce Graham had had all seventy five of his starts for Amber Lethaby.
“We’ve got Deny Everything which is owned by Damian Love and Bruce’s daughter Sally is with Damian. They thought they’d have one last crack and try a change of scenery,” Hoffman said.
RACEY KRUSA REPLAY
It was an excellent training feat by Hoffman as Racey Krusa hadn’t raced since May and he hadn’t been to any trials or workouts. However that wasn’t worrying Hoffman.
“We’ve managed to pile plenty of work into him, he’s a naturally fit horse and doesn’t carry a lot of condition. That straight line training helps those older horses. It’s better for their joints.”

Racey Krusa last won at Methven in November 2024 and he had two previous wins in 2022.
“When we first got him he was quite keen. But now he’s a cool old dude.”

In today’s R35 Trot, driver Brent Barclay sat Racey Krusa hard on the back of pacemaker The Greek Freek and when the pacing lane presented, he sprinted nicely to get up and win by a length and a quarter.
“Following a helmet is the best trip for him.”
