Taking in trials and workouts can be a sound way of getting your next winner or value runner.
In Harnesslink Trial Time we look through those that have impressed at recent trials and should be on your radar when they appear in race day fields.
Addington played host to around ten thousand heats at the recent trials on Wednesday the 1stĀ of September. A few to catch the eye wereā¦
Back Page News. Ā This horse looked like she could be front page news as she cleared out stylishly to win the 6thĀ heat of the day. The Sportswriter – Hard Days Night filly Ā does have more than a touch of breeding to call upon with her dam winning 3 times and her gran-dam producing the likes of Dizzy Miss Lizzy. The trial win itself was sound with a last 100m or so comfortable. An inside draw could see a repeat effort when hitting the track proper.
The Falcon. This horse is starting to really mature into a very nice prospect. The 2.29.5 effort from over the 1980m mobile was one of the stronger heats of the day and this horse did things easy enough after a late burst onto the scene. Ā The Bettorās Delight – Tandias Bromac gelding was run down by the Michael House trained Kruizr last start. His overall race record of 4 wins from 16 starts with 4 minor placings doesnāt tell the whole story here- heās a Group 1 placed animal.
Swaggerman. Heās got a bit of swagger about him too! This 2yr-old son of Bettorās Delight out of Motu Haughty Helen has been unbeaten in his last two trials and downed some proven two-year-old racing stock in the 8th heat of the day when mastering the Ross Houghton trained Executive Banner late. This is a young horse that looks to have a press-button speed factor to him. Leaving out the āswagger factorā from your betting slips Ā doesnāt look the best of ideas anytime soon.
Masterly. Heās trained by a master trainer himself in Paul Nairn. The 2yr-old trotter is by Love You out of Brilliant – think King Denny, Sungait Reb and the mighty Sundon himself! and made himself known when winning the 17thĀ heat of the day with a fine display from the front of proceedings. I really did like the last 100m or so. This horse may not be a maiden for too long.
