Bettor’s Delight gelding The Falcon has impressively taken out the Listed Hydroflow Country Cups Championship final tonight at Addington Raceway for harness racing trainers Geoff and James Dunn.
The Falcon made a quick beginning off his unruly barrier position and found the front early before handing up to the North Island pacer Rough And Ready, who in turn handed up to the favourite Allamericanlover. The field stayed in that position for the majority of the race until the home turn where The Falcon zipped up the passing lane to grab Allamericanlover and win by a length at the line.
“He went great,” driver Gerard O’Reilly said after the win.
“He followed the right two which really helped and they got along good which suits this fellow because he can stay and follow speed.”
“It all worked out perfectly,” he said.
The Falcon paced the 3200m distance in 4-00.7 which was a 2-01 mile rate for the standing start event.
