The Robert and Jenna Dunn trained harness racing three year old Triple G has been beaten just once in five starts and his form is a well timed boost for his sire Downbytheseaside which stands at Woodlands Stud. To date he’s had few of his progeny on the racetrack in New Zealand so Triple G is a welcome success.

Owned by Ross and Angela Gordon, Triple G was one of thirty five weanlings by Downbytheseaside that was offered by Woodlands Stud at the NZB Standardbred All Age Sale in 2020. He was sold to Diamond Racing for $15,000.
TRIPLE G REPLAY
The thirty five weanlings grossed $244,050 averaging $6,972 each. But if you take away the top three lots; Mermaid Beach ($50,000), an unnamed Downbytheseaside – Delightful Image colt ($29,000) and Sinbad ($26,000) there were some bargain buys.
Aardiebytheseaside is a good example. She was purchased by Mike Tanev for $1,500 and has gone on to win three races and $64,890 for Steve and Amanda Telfer.
Woodlands Stud representative Cameron Grant says that although Downbytheseaside hasn’t got a lot of foals ready to race, trainers are liking what they see.
“I’m hearing good things from them, but we just need more time to get more horses out there. He’s leaving nice athletic foals that look the part and now with horses like Triple G and Sinbad stepping up this should help him along nicely.”
Grant says Woodlands are hoping for some good results in the next few years across Australasia that will reinforce the stallion’s success in North America.
“There’s no question he is shaping up as a super sire.”
In North America Downbytheseaside’s first crop of two year olds were second overall on the stakes earners list, and he was the leading first season sire.
“He had seventy starters from one hundred and seventeen foals, earning $3,234,088. Winners from his first crop included three millionaires, one of which was Pebble Beach. His (Downbytheseaside’s) first crop have kept the pace going and he’s the leading money earner for three year olds quite comfortably by over $650,000, from Captaintreacherous.”
Those looking to purchase progeny of this up and coming young stallion have another opportunity to buy at the upcoming NZB Standardbred Weanling Sale at Karaka on Thursday 25th May where Downbytheseaside will be represented by nineteen weanlings, fifteen of whom will be offered by Woodlands Stud.
At this point Triple G is the New Zealand flagbearer for Downbytheseaside. We assume there will be many more to come.
