Latest NZ Cup and Dominion Trot rankings

Smokin Bandar (Monkey Bones) and Time Up The Hill (Muscle Hill) have been two of the big movers in this week’s New Zealand Cup and Show Week harness racing rankings.

The pair finished second and third behind convincing winner Muscle Mountain in Monday’s What The Hill Hill Ashburton Trotters’ Sprint and are now ranked in the top 10 for the Group 1 Renwick Farms Dominion Trot at Addington on Show Day, November 17.

Smokin Bandar is up seven places to ninth while Time Up The Hill is up four to seventh. Eurokash also drops three to 11th, with the top six remaining the same.

In the rankings for the IRT New Zealand Cup on Tuesday, November 14, the top eight, headlined by Akuta, are unchanged.

But it is a tight battle for the last few places in the 15-strong field, with Pembrook Playboy, One Change , Heza Sport and Smiffy’s Terror all making the cut, as it stands right now, and the likes of American Me, Got You Covered and Beach Ball, who won the Lazarus Handicap Pace at Addington last Friday, just outside.

Next Monday’s Kaikoura meeting and Addington’s final meeting before the New Zealand Cup on Friday November 3 loom as key meetings for fringe horses to stake their claims for both Group 1s.

Nominations for both close on Tuesday, November 7.
