After their one-two finish at Kaikoura on Monday, Mystic Max (Village Mystic) and Harold Smith (Andover Hall) have both jumped up in the latest IRT New Zealand Cup and Show Week harness racing rankings.

At double figure odds, Mystic Max beat his closest rival by a neck in the Group 3 IRT Your Horse. Our Passion South Bay Trotters’ Cup.

As a consequence he is now up five places to eighth in the rankings for the Group 1 Renwick Farms Dominion Trot on Show Day at Addington on Friday, November 17, while Harold Smith is up three to 12th.

The top seven places remain unchanged from last week, as do the top six in the rankings for the country’s greatest race, the IRT New Zealand Cup at Addington on Tuesday, November 14.

Alabar Kaikoura Cup winner Akuta (Bettor’s Delight) is by far the headline act and is currently a $1.90 favourite to win the Cup.

After his second behind Akuta, Old Town Road is up two places to nine, while Australian visitor Swayzee is now seventh. With the withdrawal of Spirit of St Louis, American Me now makes it into the Cup field.
