The hottest new sire in North America, Lazarus N, arrived this morning at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky as he goes into quarantine for his flight back to his home in New Zealand.
With his first crop of two-year-olds racing this season, Lazarus N is having a superb start with 50 of his 92 foals currently racing.
Lazarus Nās foals according to the United States Trotting Association, are #8 in the top ten list of leading money winning sires of 2022 and he one of only two first-year stallion on the list including Stay Hungry.
His foals are not just earning money, but they are also very fast.
So far in the USA, Lazarus N is the sire of the fastest two-year-old first-time starter ever when Lifes A Puzzle won a $30,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes opening leg at the Meadowlands in 1:50.4.
He is also the sire of 1:51.3 winner Handlelikeaporche, giving Lazarus N two of the top ten fastest two-year-old pacers in the nation.
āHe (Lazarus) arrived this morning at the farm,ā said Ben Taylor, who runs the equine operations for Taylor Made Stallions.
āHe looks good and should be fine for the flight home to New Zealand.ā Tayler said.
When asked about the early success of foals sired by Lazarus N, Taylor replied, āThey have gotten to the races, so weāre happy with that. And they are racing well. A lot of them are competing against each other. He has quite a few winners but when you have so many of them in the same race itās tough for all of them to get their first win.
āHe has been aided in the New Jersey breeding program,ā Taylor added. āIf you study his horses they race well and they are fast compared to other states and early stakes races. They do stack up pretty good at the Meadowlands.ā
So now Larazus N will be heading to New Zealand where he can look forward to another big breeding season based on how well his two-year-olds are doing in the USA.
āI know that they have 100 mares already booked to Lazarus N in New Zealand,ā Taylor explained. āAnd my best guess is that he will pick up at least another 50 or more mares for this breeding season.ā
With the great start that Lazarus N has in the USA, it will be interesting to see how his foals do in the big grand circuit races coming up. It looks like he will be a major factor in the breeding shed perhaps for years to come.
