Defending Inter dominion champion Lennytheshark will undergo another vet inspection on Thursday to see if he can take his place in the field for the $1 million final at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
Trained by David Aiken, Lennytheshark’s spot in the field is in doubt after pulling up lame when running second to Run Oneover in the second of the final heats at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
An x-ray conducted by Lark Hill vets today indicated there was no structural damage to the horse however Racing and Wagering Western Australian (RWWA) veterinarian, Judith Medd, following a further inspection, found the seven-year-old to be still sore in the near foreleg.
Bar plates have been fitted and poultices have been applied to aid the recovery and to assist with any discomfort the horse may be suffering.
Aiken’s own vet from Victoria will look over Lennytheshark tonight (Monday) with Medd to conduct another inspection on Thursday.
Lennytheshark, one of two Interdominion entrants for Aiken, has drawn barrier four in the final and is currently quoted a $6 chance with Tabtouch.
Heading the market at $2.45 is stable mate, Hectorjayjay, who has eased in betting after drawing gate 9.
