Lester ready for Akaroa Cup

Rising Country Cup pacer Lester (Bettor’s Delight) looks to be ideally placed for the $20,000 Akaroa Cup on the grass at Motukarara on Saturday.

Trained by Warren Stapleton, from just ten starts Lester has won four times including once on the grass.

At his last start at Timaru he broke briefly at the start and was held up turning in, but made a spirited bid down the straight before peaking on his run.

He’ll be handled by his usual pilot Kimberly Butt.

Stapleton also lines up a couple of trotters on Saturday. Cosmic Angel (Master Glide) won four starts back and is slowing getting to grips with the new grade she’s racing in. She lines up in Race Seven.

Seven year old mare Full Of Hope (Waterloo Sunset) starts off the ten metre mark in Race Ten. Three of her six wins have been on grass. Stapleton labelled her as his smokie for the meeting.
