Well known Queensland harness racing owner Greg Brodie has had a lot of top horses over the years and most of them have started their racing careers from the Bruce Negus stable.
As is normal in such circumstances some turn out better than others but one who has promised much but failed to deliver more often than not is the Lis Mara gelding Music.
Starting out with Bruce when he was based at Waikouaiti, Music showed a lot of promise at three but really struggled at four.
When it looked like Music was going to carry on in the same vein at five Bruce recommended that the horse be transferred to the Robert Dunn stable at Woodend to take advantage of the beach training.
Bruce convinced John Dunn that Music was far from a spent force.
"Bruce was confident that the horse had plenty more wins in him but since he had moved back to Burnham from the beach at Waikouaiti the horse had not performed as well as he had at three."
" Since he has been here he has really thrived and I think he is a long way from being finished yet," John said.
A winner at big odds first up for the stable at Methven, Music was sent out at odds of 11 to 1 at Addington Raceway tonight due to the presence of the hot favourite Cable Beach.
Last of the seven horse field for most of the journey on a hot pace, Music swooped late down the outside for John Dunn to make it two wins from two starts from the Dunn barn.
" The race was run to suit him down to the ground but he has still come from last so it was a good effort."
" I don't think we will line him up during Cup week as that might be a bit rich for him but there are plenty of opportunities for a horse like him."
" I don't think tonights win will be his last," John said.
The way that Music has won his last two from the Robert Dunn barn at Woodend Beach, he looks to have a few more wins in him yet.
