Harness racing driver Kerryn Tomlinson drove Magnetic Beckers (Sportswriter) to perfection to win his third race at Ascot Park today (Nov. 23).

From barrier five Tomlinson took the horse back to last as Livy Desma (Changeover) took up the early role as pacemaker. With just under a lap to run Mark Jones took favourite Mayson Shard (Bettor’s Delight) to the top. At the 450 Tomlinson pressed the go button and sent Magnetic Beckers forward. The pair were five wide on the bend and the four year old let down nicely in the middle of the track to win by two lengths.
MAGNETIC BECKERS REPLAY
“He just needs to be driven with a sit and Kerryn drove him perfectly. He’s always had that speed and he’s gone the times, so I was confident he’d go a good race,” trainer Robin Swain said.
The odds were surprisingly long for Magnetic Beckers who’d recorded a fourth and a last start second since resuming.
“He’s gone a couple of good races on his way up and just needed a couple of races to get his fitness up.”

The gelding was bred by the President of the Roxburgh Trotting Club Neville Beckley and is owned by his wife.
“He’s got that bit of speed which you need these days. It’s a good old family of Neville’s. Magnetic Terror (Terror To Love) was a bit the same – sit and sprint.”
