The Methven Trotting Club committee has been busy assisting their Geraldine counterparts as they put the finishing touches on the course, buildings and surrounds in readiness for the Methven Trotting Club’s Cup meeting on Sunday October 10 which as most will be aware is to be run at Orari Racecourse.
After the working bee the Methven guys had to congratulate their South Canterbury cousins on the outstanding state of the Orari track which is a credit to them.
The feature races on the day will be the $30,000 Lazarus standing at Alabar Methven Cup and the $20,000 What The Hill Fillies and Mares Classic. At this stage conditions will be as at previous meetings under Alert Level 2.
There will be limited food available for owners and trainers and likely to be some limited betting facilities on track.
The Methven track is very close to being ready and in all likelihood will be back in use for the club’s twilight meeting on Friday October29. A huge thank you for all those who have worked so hard to achieve this especially Kerry O’Reilly ,Ricky May ,Hamish Molloy, Laurence Hanrahan and trackman Neil Burton.
In other news all the sections of the club’s back straight development have now been signed up and the first infrastructure work is ongoing. So if we don’t see you at Orari make sure you follow the action on trackside and remember the more you put on the more you get back! So to the rest see you at Orari where just this one time I am sure the sun will shine.
