Quality harness racing filly Music Mistress (Sweet Lou) rounded out her southern campaign with an easy win in the Group Three $40,000 Caduceus Club of Southland /Alabar Fillies Classic at Ascot Park today.
Having impressively won on the track the week before, co-trainer Amanda Telfer stayed in the south with her filly at Brett Grayās Ryal Bush stable for todayās group feature.
āSheās been to Bretts before. She settled in great and came through the race well and we were happy with her,ā she said.
Raced by Stonewall Stud, the Stonewall Stud No 21 and Bought At The Pub Syndicates, the win was Music Mistressās second in as many starts.
āSheāll go to the paddock now because sheās done enough this time in. Sheās just showing a few signs that sheās needing a break but to her credit sheās picked herself up to do what sheās done in the last two weeks.ā
Amanda who trains in partnership with her brother Steve has been very patient with the filly.
āSheās had a few preps. She was actually ready to trial in November, but I tipped her out again. We went to the trials this time in and yes, sheās come a long way.ā
Telfer says Music Mistress will tackle some of the bigger races like the Sires Stakes heats later in the season.
She was piloted today by Tim Williams.
