Branxholme trainer Nathan Williamson will take some serious horsepower to the Winton Harness Racing Club’s meeting at Central Southland Raceway tomorrow.
In Race One he fronts up with Major Envy (Art Major) who’s had two runs back in this campaign, finishing third behind Louies Girl at her last start. She gets a handy draw at four.
There’s no doubting Joeking’s (Majestic Son) ability but the headstrong gelding has been getting things wrong lately. His fifth placing in the New Zealand Two Year Old Trotting Stakes behind some talented youngsters is an indication of his talent. He starts in Race Two and will be suited by the big track if his trainer can get him trotting early.
Two year old Ultimate Weapon (Bettor’s Delight) has been given plenty of time to find his feet. He’s had two trials and five workouts and has noticeably improved. He’s a full brother to Ultimate Machete and Ultimate Sniper and draws barrier five in Race Three.
In Race Four Williamson has Miraculous (Bettor’s Delight) who impressed on debut, winning by two and a quarter lengths. This race, against his own age group, looks very winnable.
Race Six sees two stable runners Ruby Roe and Flying Ellie.
Ruby Roe (Captaintreacherous) was a two length winner at Oamaru just over four weeks ago. She draws barrier seven.
Flying Ellie (Art Major) returns to racing tomorrow. She’s a two win filly racing against primarily maiden two year old pacers. She’s had four quiet workouts in preparation for her return.
Hidden Talent (Bacardi Lindy) raced in Group company at her last start at Addington, finishing fourth. She starts off the 30 metre mark in Race Seven but most of her main rivals will also start off a handicap.
Itoje (Betterthancheddar) has won two of his three starts although Williamson wasn’t overly happy with his last start win. He lines up in Race Eight and draws barrier five.
Rakamurph and Micaitlen Denario represent the stable in Race Nine.
Rakamurph (Captaintreacherous) should gain benefit from his last start recently in Invercargill, having come back from a break of seven months. He’s the winner of three races and draws wide at seven.
Micaitlen Denario (Captaintreacherous) looked desperately unlucky when running into a wall of horses at Wingatui and finishing sixth with a full head of steam. She draws the inside of the second row but has options being the only one on the second line.
