New Zealand junior harness racing driver Sam Thornley still leads the Haras des Trotteurs Australasian Young Drivers Championship after the second round of heats was run at Ballarat last night (Dec. 7).
Thornley had a commanding lead after night one of the Championship winning two of the heats, but Australian driver Emily Suvaljko won the two races of the series at Ballarat last night to narrow the gap on Thornley’s lead to just three points.
“I came here tonight with high hopes,” Suvaljko said after her winning double.
“The horses I had were shorter in the market and they did the job tonight,” she said.
The Haras des Trotteurs Australasian Young Drivers Championship gathers a select group of six Australians and three New Zealanders in the series leading up to and culminating on Inter Dominion grand final night at Melton on Saturday (Dec. 10).
