Gore harness racing trainer Brian Norman trucks north today (Jan. 25) for the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s twilight meeting at Oamaru.
He has five runners spread over the eight race card, with his day starting in Race Two where he lines up Harleen Quinzel (Majestic Son). She last started at Wyndham in October and has had two workouts to fit her for today’s resumption.
“She had a month off. She’s trotting well this time in and she’s pretty solid at the moment. She should trot all the way but I think she’ll be a run short,” said Norman.
In Race Three he lines up Is He Watching Me (He’s Watching). In her last start at Winton, she was pushed back and today gets a nice draw to work with.
“The plan last start was to keep pressing forward because she lacks high speed. It’s not a very good field and she’s got a good draw to have a crack. We’ll see what happens.”
In Race Four Warrior Easton (Auckland Reactor) looks to be in a winnable race with just seven runners.
“It’s a bit of a hard draw with Taxman on the inside who’s good out of the gate. He’s got the ability to win if he gets the right run.”
The out of form Joedium (Quaker Jet) gets a chance in Race Five to improve, but he faces a field with far better form lines so he will be at long odds.
“He’s proving more than difficult. He’s got the ability, but his head’s not in the game. He trotted okay at the workouts but he’s still touch and go.”
In Race Six What A Razzle Dazzle (Washington VC) has the task ahead of him. He’s the winner of ten races, more than any other runner in this race but it’ll be competitive.
“He’s pretty well and loves going to the races. Blair (Orange) gets on well with him, so this race is pretty winnable. He’s my best bet.”
