Kentuckiana Lodge trainers Cran and Chrissie Dalgety think the odds can tip in Casino Action’s favour at Addington on Friday night.
The Group 1 placegetter is among a strong team of six horses that will step out in their famed maroon and white racing silks.
Casino Action (Bettor’s Delight) could not have been much more impressive in his return to racing at Addington earlier this month when running third.
After sitting parked throughout, the three-year-old never finished, finishing just a length and a half from the winner.
The effort stands should stand Casino Action in good stead when he starts from barrier 8 on Friday night.
“He was super first up, he was entitled to get a bit weary after doing that work because he hadn’t had the benefit of a race,” Cran said.
“I was thrilled with him, he has come back in really good shape for the spring.”
“Starting from 8 isn’t ideal, naturally we would have loved to draw in a little bit closer but I still feel he is ready to make a big impact.”
“He has shown he won’t shirk the task if he has to do some work, so we are going into it thinking are a live chance of making the top 2 or 3.”
Cardinal Sin goes into race 9 under the same circumstances as Casino Action.
The four-year-old did some work in his first up assignment before sticking on well to run third behind his talented stablemate Sugar Me.
Cardinal Sin doesn’t look to be taking on any horses of the calibre of Sugar Me on Friday night which means his winning chances look bright.
“I was very pleased with him first up, he needed that outing and it has brought him on, physically,” Cran said.
“He hasn’t drawn a perfect gate (7), but he looks well placed in that field, he has certainly had tougher assignments.”
“I am expecting him to race very well.”
Invaluble lines up alongside Cardinal Sin, but from the ace barrier 1 draw.
Following his nice second at Addington last week, the four-year-old looks ideally placed.
“He hit the line really nicely last week, he is Mr Consistent, he always puts in and from that good draw I would expect him to be prominent.”
Mitsi Gaynor starts in race 2 on Friday night for the Kentuckiana Lodge team.
The three-year-old was held up at a vital stage of her last start at Addington, resulting in a sixth placing.
Back to racing maidens this week, the filly looks a huge winning chance.
“We took on mares that’d had a lot of racing last week and things didn’t really pan out for us with her getting held up.”
“She has tied up on us a little bit but seems to be well over that now.”
“Back in a maiden field I would expect her to be very competitive.”
Shards In Manhattan was third in the same race Mitsi Gaynor contested last week.
The three-year-old takes on open class mares in Stylish Memphis and Plutonium Lady in race 8, but she has the advantage of barrier 1.
“She’s been racing really well, she keeps improving and her form is showing that.”
“Taking on the likes of Stylish Memphis means we don’t expect to turn up and win but from the draw we think she can definitely feature.”
Taurus Bromac will complete Kentuckiana’s night at Addington when he starts in race 11.
The consistent three-year-old is expected to produce yet another honest performance.
“It looks like quite a smart field, his form has been very consistent.”
“He will front up with another honest performance, I’m sure.”
The Dalgety team won’t have a runner at Motukarara on Sunday following the scratching of Ajira.
Cran said he tuned in from home to mark the inaugural running of the Jeff Scott Memorial.
