Mid-Canterbury harness racing driver Sarah O’Reilly is not enjoying having to be at home while she recovers from a training accident.
The accident which happened at the Ashburton track in July, saw her snap the humerus bone in her arm. She also broke her cheek bone and her eye socket, in two places.
“I went for an X-Ray last Wednesday and they said it’s healing (the arm) but getting the cast off is still six weeks away. I’m going back on 10th October. If I get the cast off my arm I’m not sure how long the rehab will be,” O’Reilly said.
Sitting on the sideline has been difficult.
“It’s hard just watching your drives go round.”
Sarah says she goes down to her father’s stables most days.
“I walk down from home and just watch. I’m not allowed to drive a car. That’s about exciting as my day gets. I’ve been watching a bit of Netflix.”
Prior to the accident her last drive was on Big Mama Morris at Addington on 7th July.
