Leading Junior harness racing driver Sarah O’Reilly has taken out the Darren DeFilippi Memorial tonight at Addington Raceway.
O’Reilly drove The Bloss (The Pres) to victory in the race held for Junior drivers, winning the time honored event for the second year in a row.
“I didn’t expect to win again this year, but we did so it was very exciting,” Sarah O’Reilly said after the race.
The Bloss worked hard early to find the lead and then trailed the until the final turn.
In the straight the consistent mare was too good despite not having raced for two months.
“I was a bit worried about her not racing for a wee while but it worked out well being in the trail and getting a soft trip and she came home very strongly,” O’Reilly said.
Rangiora trainer Brent Borcoskie bred and also part owns The Bloss, who beat home Madeleine Stowe and driver Crystal Hackett, with King Of Love and Ben Hope running third.
