“I was happy to get seven drives but to get three wins is a bit of a bonus,” harness racing driver Sam Ottley said after wins on Superfast Ronnie (Superfast Stuart), Rylan Charlie (Changeover) and Judaque (Always B Miki) at Gore today.
RYLAN CHARLIE REPLAY
Both Rylan Charlie and Judaque were bred by Judy Dillon of Ardlussa and are trained at Gore by Shane Matheson.
“That’s the first time I’ve had two horses win in one day,” Dillon said.
To make it even more special, both horses share the same heritage.
“This breed goes back to a horse my father had called Grange Lady (Dillion Hall) when I was at primary school.”
Trained by Davey Todd, Grange Lady won five races and is the fifth dam of both Rylan Charlie and Judaque.
The family has been good to Dillon. Jimbob Jac (Live Or Die) winning nine and Archman (Somebeachsomewhere) seven are also in the family tree.
Ottley took Rylan Charlie straight to the front today and controlled the race astutely with the six year old winning by two lengths. Judaque settled last, got into the one one and was too good for Step It Up A Notch, winning by a neck.
JUDAQUE REPLAY
“That one was unexpected. I was grumpy about the handicapping and that she shouldn’t be in this race.”
Rylan Charlie was third favourite while Judaque was 6/6 in the betting.
Dillon is also breeding from her good mare Bridesdale Robyn (Christian Cullen) which won seven races, so she’s got plenty more horses to look forward to.
