It was a special day for harness racing driver Clark Barron when I’m Full Of Excuses (Jereme’s Jet) won the 2015 Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes.
With 2000 metres to run Barron was left parked as Pulp Fiction was taken to the top by driver Dexter Dunn. Barron was given cover by Tas Man Bromac with a lap to run and these two knuckled down to fight out the finish with I’m Full Of Excuses under a hard drive from Barron, getting there by a nose.
Owned By Ollie and Irene Haines, the win was Clark’s second in the Supremacy, his first being on the Henry Skinner and Alan Devery trained Handiboy in 1991.
Earlier in the programme Barron achieved a major milestone winning his 1000th race with Flight Deck also by Jereme’s Jet.
I’m Full Of Excuses raced twenty one times for Barron winning seven races and he went on to win another fifteen in Australia with three Group Three races to his credit.
This Sunday the Invercargill HRC host Diamonds Day at Ascot with a host of feature race including the $110,000 Group One Diamond Creek Farm Two Year Old Classic, the $60,000 Group Two Macca Lodge/Nevele R Southern Oaks, the $60,000 Group Two Alabar Supremacy Stakes and the $40,000 Regent Car Court Southern Country Cups Final.
A truly spectacular day of racing which gets underway at 12 noon.
