Black Pat (What The Hill) trained by Phil Williamson proved too good for a large field in the Regent Car Court Gold Chip Final at the Forbury Park harness racing meeting at Wyndham today.

Central Otago horseman Ginger Woodhouse has had success with Black Pat’s breed for a good number of years.
“Denis Stumbles from Ranfurly rang me one night and said he wasn’t having a lot of luck with gallopers. He’d had nine without a win. So he told me he’d like to try a trotter and I said that Ginger had a couple there for sale.”
The first trotter Stumbles and his late racing partner Jim Hunter bought was Be Bee Pat (Brylin Boy) which won three races for Williamson. Their second purchase was Here Comes Pat (Dream Vacation) which won eight.
“Once Here Comes Pat finished racing, they bred Humble Ladd. He raced to open grade here and won on both Cup Day and Show Day.”
Owned by Williamson and driven by his son Nathan, today’s win was Black Pat’s third in just eleven starts.
BLACK PAT REPLAY
“It’s always nice to have a nice horse and she’s getting better. The future looks quite rosy for her. Nathan’s got a bit of a wrap on her. We’ll probably carry on racing because she’s learning as she goes and we may dip our toes in the water further down the line. Maybe the Southland and New Zealand Oaks if we think we’re going okay at the time.”
