Black Pat (What The Hill) trained by Phil Williamson proved too good for a large field in the Regent Car Court Gold Chip Final at the Forbury Park harness racing meeting at Wyndham today.
Central Otago horseman Ginger Woodhouse has had success with Black Patās breed for a good number of years.
āDenis Stumbles from Ranfurly rang me one night and said he wasnāt having a lot of luck with gallopers. Heād had nine without a win. So he told me heād like to try a trotter and I said that Ginger had a couple there for sale.ā
The first trotter Stumbles and his late racing partner Jim Hunter bought was Be Bee Pat (Brylin Boy) which won three races for Williamson. Their second purchase was Here Comes Pat (Dream Vacation) which won eight.
āOnce Here Comes Pat finished racing, they bred Humble Ladd. He raced to open grade here and won on both Cup Day and Show Day.ā
Owned by Williamson and driven by his son Nathan, todayās win was Black Patās third in just eleven starts.
BLACK PAT REPLAY
āItās always nice to have a nice horse and sheās getting better. The future looks quite rosy for her. Nathanās got a bit of a wrap on her. Weāll probably carry on racing because sheās learning as she goes and we may dip our toes in the water further down the line. Maybe the Southland and New Zealand Oaks if we think weāre going okay at the time.ā
