There were plenty of celebrations to be had following a phenomenal weekend of harness racing results for Breckon Farms.
The weekend started off with a bang withĀ King of Swing, being crowned Australian Horse of the Year for the second year running. Only the 9th horse in history to be awarded the title twice. The Rocknroll Hanover entire from Group 1 winner Twist & Twirl (Artsplace) accumulated 11 wins from his 16 starts last season including taking out his second Miracle Mile title. We congratulate his connections, B V Richardson, M A Congerton, Go Racing, G L Moore, S D McGregor, R Patriarca, F Patriarca, S E Simmonds, G J Richardson, what a phenomenal ride āThe Kingā is taking you on, one we take such pride in following. The high continued withĀ High Flying HarryĀ (Bettorās Delight – High Society Gal) andĀ Regal AttireĀ (Muscle Hill – Regal Volo) saluting in the Breckon Farms colours at Addington in Race 1 and Race 2.
Our Class of 2019 has made quite the impression on the track (100% of them have had a top three finish, 88% of them have won a race) and none more so that AllamericanloverĀ (American Ideal – Goodlookingbabe)Affectionately known as āPatchā due to her unusual white stomach marking the Steve and Amanda Telfer trained mare has put together a formidable record, 11 starts, 6 wins and four placings. Her most recent victory came when she secured the Nelson Pine Industries Nelson Cup by two lengths. On Friday night she secured her first Group placing, flashing home to run second in the Group 2 Garrards Premier Mares Championship. Fellow Breckon Bred Bettor Twist (Bettorās Delight – Twist & Twirl) lost no admirers with a tenacious fourth, having to do the most work in the race to overcome her outside draw. Both mares will now contest the Group 1 New Zealand Breeders Stakes on Friday 11th February at Addington. Four Breckon Bred starters – three placings, that would have been a brilliant weekend of results, but the success didnāt end there. Out westĀ Prince of PleasureĀ (Bettorās Delight – Holly Madison) announced his arrival with a 9m win in his first Australian start in the last of the night from Gloucester Park for Gary Hall Jnr. Gary Hall Jnrās success with the Breckon Bredās didnāt end there with the horse he used to train and still retains a share in, King of Swing returning to the track in emphatic style securing a win at Menangle on Saturday night. The run will top him off nicely for this Saturdayās Group 1 Del – Re National A G Hunter Cup where he has drawn the ace. Joining him in Melbourne isĀ Cash N Flow(Mach Three– Karen Donna) who also won on Saturday taking out the final heat of the Mercury80 series. He will be looking to add another Group 2 to his illustrious CV which features 36 wins, when he lines up in the final this week.
We get such a thrill out of our graduatesā on track performances and congratulate their connections, long may the celebrations continue.
