Taking in trials can be a sound way of getting your next winner or value runner.
In Harnesslink Trial Time we look through those that have impressed at recent trials and should be on your radar when they appear in race day fields.
The Rangiora trials on Wednesday the 29th of September saw some very strong fields assembled, here we look into just some of those that impressed.
Republican Party (Bettorās Delight – Democratic Party) There isnāt much of this royally bred 2yr-old but that doesnāt stop him from being a little bit fast! After working forward to take the lead early in the 9thĀ heat of the day Carter Dalgety asked him to step things out a little over the final 800m and he looked good coming down to the line winning impressively from the Jenna and Robert Dunn trained Shanika. His race record currently stands at three starts for a solitary win but on this performance youād suggest that will be added to at short notice. Ā A vote of confidence in Republican Party!
Pelosi (American Ideal – For Dear Life) Carries on the political theme. A real interest factor surrounding this horse with the mare being a Group level performer in Australia. A win in the NSW Breeders Challenge as a 2yr-old was repeated the following year as a 3yr-old so thereās little questioning the ability. Her last 400m of the 8th heat of the day was a nice watch as the mare closed the gaps on both Enjoy Me and Shan Noble late with an overall time of 2.29.9 being posted for the 2000m mobile trip. Ā Watch and follow Pelosi.
Anything Goes Ā (American Ideal – On The Town) I do like the dam-line involved here with the wider family including the likes of On the Cards (11 NZ wins) Ā On The Razzle (16 wins) and the impressive Roman Conqueror who danced with a few 1.50 mile-rates in the USA. This horse showed all sorts of speed late in the 5th heat of the day to hit the line strongly behind Romeo Shard and Roll Your Own with the overall time for the 2000m mobile clocking in at 2.33.6. There was more in tank behind Acento last week too. He’s building…this Steve Dolan trained runner will not be a maiden for long.
Dracarys Ā (Bettorās Delight – Spirit Of Art) Sheās back is Dracarys! The Leonard Memorial Stakes winner from 2018 Dracarys has been on Australian soil for some time but looks to have returned in fine form if her performance in last heat of the day is anything to go by. A slashing last 400m caught the eye while a slight bobble away from her 30m mark was most probably the only real worry. Itāll be interesting to see her progress this time inā¦ letās hope sheās over the bloodbath she gave to Kingās Landing!
