Michael House continued his dominance at Manawatu Raceway on Wednesday, winning all but one of the five race card.

Local trainer Stephen Doody took out the first race of the meeting with Leesa Castleton but from there it was the Michael House and Blair Orange show.

The Canterbury trainer-driver combination went on to when the remaining four races with Proviseur, Carerra Lucia, Mogul, and Mop.

“It was a pretty good evening,” House said.

“I had some motivational discussions with Proviseur during the week and he responded quite well to the point where he gave me a great feeling the last couple of training trips. He saw the error in his ways with his form line.

“Mop trialled super last week at Rangiora and it was a great drive from Blair, Carerra Lucia was another great drive by Blair, and Mogul just stepped up. He is a great travelling warrior.”

House also secured a couple of quinellas, with son Wilson driving both Greenback Boogie and Joanie Magic to second placings in their respective events on his first day of raceday driving.

“He was robbed a wee bit,” House said. “Blair is a sensational driver and he had all the best drives today and it showed in the results.

“He is a motivated boy but winning a race while playing second fiddle to Blair is pretty ominous.”

Wilson House got a taste of what his immediate future will look like on Wednesday, with the aspiring scholar set to spend the next few years in the city pursuing his dream of becoming a vet.

“He has been working towards getting to vet school and he has been accepted there (Massey University) so we have got to keep Manawatu going and he will run that stable,” House said.

“He will be going to vet school at the same time and we will be doing the Cambridge and Palmerston North races together in the new year.”

While House enjoyed his four wins at Manawatu on Tuesday, he is looking forward to switching codes on Wednesday when he lines-up four gallopers at Gore.

“I have been training them (thoroughbreds) for a wee while, but we are getting into it bigger now.

“I like a horse that Ray Green owns called Copy Me In (who will line-up in the Howl At The Moon 1200m).”
