Further emphasising the talent New Zealand has in its ranks of young drivers, last night three female junior drivers drove five winners between them on the ten race card at an Auckland Premier race night.
Alicia Harrison teamed up with DJ Rock (Rock N Roll Heaven) and Fernleigh Cash (Bettorās Delight) to win for her employer Stonewall Stud. And Crystal Hackett drove Five Oāclock Gerry (What The Hill) and Aldebaran Flame (Trixton) for her parents Michelle Wallis and Bernie Hackett.
Monika Ranger added to the cause when she drove the Jeremy Young trained Lady Of The Light (Bettorās Delight) to win.
Adding to the night of successes, Crystal (Ultimate Racy Girl) and Alicia (Akatea) ran second and third respectively in the Group One Caduceus Club Two Year Old Fillies Classic. It was Hackett and Harrisonsā first time being placed in a Group One race.
Both Crystal and Alicia will be competing in the upcoming New Zealand Junior Drivers Championship which begins at Addington on Thursday 5th October. It heads to Invercargill on Friday 6th October and concludes at Methven on Sunday 8th October. The driver with the most points at the end of the series will represent New Zealand at the Australian Young Drivers Championship.
